Saving Yourself with Green. Presentation of the book by architect Andrea Mati

Sunday, October 5, 2025, 5 p.m.

Andrea Mati – a lecturer at the Master of Therapeutic Horticulture at the University of Bologna – will focus his talk on the therapeutic value of nature and, thanks to his decades of experience, will show how gardens and landscapes can be transformed into authentic tools for healing and inclusion. He will be joined by Dr. Iacopo Cancelli, a neurologist from Udine Hospital, who will offer a clinical look at how contact with greenery positively affects neurological and cognitive health. Also present will be Dr. Susanna Cardinale, president of the Udine Alzheimer’s Association, who will talk about the impact of the disease in our region and the activities the association promotes every day to support sufferers and families.

The evidence from scientific research is increasingly convincing: being in contact with nature reduces stress and anxiety, strengthens the immune system, supports cognitive disorders, and significantly improves quality of life.

The occasion calls to mind the figure of physician Gaetano Perusini, who helped define Alzheimer’s disease.

The conference is scheduled as part of the project “Celiberti for UNESCO – History, Nature and Art,” supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Participation is free, with reservations required through arteinvilla.org or by writing to info@villapace.eu.
